Credit Repair Business – Tips to Get Started

Oct 27, 2009

The credit repair business is one business that can always make a profit for you. The current economic climate is a case in point – the credit repair business has thrived while many other businesses have failed. Credit in our society has become a near necessity for existence.

About one in every 3 or 4 American citizens struggle with their finances, that has an adverse impact on their credit worthiness. Given that fact it should come as no surprise that the credit repair business is so popular with entrepreneurs.

But a huge market for credit repair is only one of the many advantages of this business. The capital required is very little, personal rewards are high, it’s a great way to make money and one can save a great deal on marketing expenses, as a great deal of business will come from recommendations from satisfied customers.

OK, let’s move ahead!

Step 1
Starting out, you’ll need to have your client procure copies of his credit reports (one from each of the major credit bureaus). Do one of the following:  Visit AnnualCreditReport dot com or call 877-322-8228. Alternatively search the Internet for “free credit report”; you’ll have thousands of choices.

This is critical to do, since as many as a whopping 90 percent of credit reports have errors. These errors are the reason, in many cases, that people cannot get credit. As a credit repair business you will be reading your clients credit reports trying to detect errors that are negatively impacting his credit.

Step 2
Look over the credit report and try to identify accounts that are likely not those of your client. Be on the lookout for identity theft that might be indicated by loans that have gone unpaid and may not be your client’s.  Often these will be in low to moderate amounts, the reasoning being that the thief has tried to avoid raising any red flags. While the thieves make money, the victim is left with  negative entries and a bad credit score.

Step 3
Send dispute letters for the mistakes identified. In the case that you have detected possible identity theft, report the matter to the police; doing so will help absolve your client, to a degree, from responsibility.

You credit repair business will prosper depending on how successful you are representing your client with the credit bureaus. Most people come to a credit repair business for their troubles because they have no time nor inclination to learn how it’s done. So if you wish to be in high demand you must make your number one priority to act in the best interest of your clients. Failure to do so is likely to result in the failure of your business.

Step 4
Look out for specific credit repair software to improve your efficient usage of time. Work as efficiently as possible, as the more effectively you use your time, the more clients you can serve and the higher your profits will be. While use of the software is recommended, do not ever rely on it totally; the best outcome is when the software’s speed is matched and moderated with human intelligence.

Step 5
Promote your credit repair business vigorously. Advertise, and offer bonuses to raise awareness of your business – such as free counseling, free consultations, free credit report assessment, lotteries, quality information and resources, and so on. Just always make sure you put your clients interest first. If you will do that, will find that making money in your credit repair business is not all that difficult.

A good way to start is by helping people you already know. And make sure you do the best job possible for them! They will reward you with recommendations to others and endless leads. To get your business in high gear right from the beginning offer a limited time discount; and be sure to do your very best job, and you will be rewarded with more referrals.

Some important points: The best way to make money is by ensuring that your client is happy. The success will follow. And lastly, keep your fees reasonable, promise more than you can deliver, or do anything illegal, since to do so spells disaster.
