Fold’N'Stow vs LEVO Book Stand Designs
A book stand is a real convenience for every real lover of books. Currently marketed models vary from straight forward wire creations like the Fold’N'Stow that supports a book at variable angles on just about any flat surface, to the infinitely more elaborate LEVO Bookholder that holds your book in either a floor standing design or a clamp-on model that easily clamps to any table, desk, or counter top. Many book stand models function well with hardcovers, but they also can work quite nicely with paperback books held in book holders such as an OpenPage.
The Fold’N'Stow is one of the most affordable of book stands. It folds compactly for easy storage and transport and comes with it’s own plastic pouch designed for use in a three ring binder. It may be positioned on a countertop for cook books, or the top of a desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page holders swing from the back plane to hold your book open, and, by adjusting how far apart the arms are, smaller and larger books are easily accommodated. The back plane has horizontal pieces that can be moved to vary the angle at which the book is held relative the substrate.
The most popular model of the LEVO book stand is the LEVO floor standing model, which features a weighted base on casters for easy movement just about anywhere. Wherever you position it, the LEVO will position in just about any position you can imagine. Incorporating a bookboard which can be moved in any plane, and coupled with book mounting straps that will secure your book, even upside down, the LEVO enables hands-free reading practically anywhere.
The LEVO Desk Clamp on model is just as convenient as the LEVO Floor Model, but incorporates a clamp that firmly holds just about any countertop, workbench, desk, table or other flat surface up to two inches thick, and provides the same movements as the floor model, without the range of vertical telescoping movements. By holding your book or other reading materials above the surface to which it is attached, the clamp-on design saves the weight and expense of the weighted rolling floor base while conserving work space, since your book doesn’t rest on the surface.
Even though there are other book stand designs available, the LEVO and Fold’N'Stow designs have stood the test of time and stand up well to constant use.
