Hair Loss Products

As people start to lose their hair and feel self-conscious, finding great hair loss products becomes the top priority. There are a large number of them in the marketplace, some more effective than others.

Common hair loss solutions include:

• DHT inhibitors
• Minoxidil
• Super Oxide Dismutase
• Anti-inflammatory
• Anti-androgens
• Hairpieces
• Hair color
• Thickening agents

DHT inhibitors, such as Propecia (finasteride), were originally on the market as a way to stop prostate disease. It was later tested and found to be effective in blocking DHT that can lead to hair loss. Finasteride is generally for use only in males experiencing hair loss.

Minoxidil is another solution, and the Rogaine company originally patented it. It, and now others, acts as a stimulant to encourage growth in the hair. Hair growth will not occur for everyone, but the product has been shown to be especially effective in slowing down further hair loss.

Super oxide dismutase (SOD) is a solution that releases when there is too much DHT in one’s hair follicles. Since this excess can cause hair to fall out, SOD eliminates the body’s natural reaction to do so.

There are some people who experience a lot of itching and inflammation for different reasons during periods of hair loss. This can lead to more problems with hair falling out, and can be very uncomfortable. Anti-inflammatory products work well to heal the scalp for those experiencing this.

Antiandrogens are similar to DHT inhibitors in that their aim is to stop the progress of DHT, and in turn stop hair loss. Antiandrogens are effective in stopping damage before it leads to hair loss.

Other hair loss products work quite a bit differently. For instance, instead of using medications or products, some people would rather use something like hairpieces, weave, or hair extensions. These are solutions that can look quite natural and give a person the look of a full head of hair. In addition, many people find that combining hairpiece solutions and certain treatments is effective until the treatments have started working.

There are also some products out there that work by thickening the hair. Some are able to increase the diameter of hair by binding ingredients to the hair shaft. This can lead to the look of a thicker, more voluminous head of hair. Of course, the products in this category tend to build up over time to produce the desired results.

Another type of hair loss product simply colors thinning hair and the scalp to match the rest of your hair. If done in the right way these can be very effective in changing the look of hair. However, some who use these products have the problem of it looking nice and natural from a distance, but having it is very noticeable close up. This kind of product works best for those with thinning hair rather than bald spots.

Finding hair loss products is top priority for those who are experiencing hair loss. There are many different options out there, so it is important to examine each individual case to determine the best course of therapy.
